Validation of Prior Non-Formal and Informal Learning and Lifelong Learning Policies in the Western Balkans, 14-15 November 2024, Vlore, Albania

Validation of Prior Non-Formal and Informal Learning and Lifelong Learning Policies in the Western Balkans was organised on 14-15 November 2024 in Vlore, Albania.  The workshop was organised in cooperation between the Albanian National Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Qualification – NAVETQ, UNDP Albania and Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe – ERI SEE. The workshop gathered representatives of VET agencies, qualification agencies and educatioin ministries from six Western Balkan Economies.

The workshop objectives were:

  • Planning future regional cooperation: Exchange information about and discuss next steps in the development of EQET SEE project and regional cooperation under the umbrella of ERI SEE
  • Regional Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate discussion on lifelong learning initiatives, recognition of prior learning (RPL), and the role of VET systems in enhancing employability.
  • Best Practice Sharing: Highlight successful RPL practices and lifelong learning policies from WB6 countries, exploring strategies for harmonization.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Establish a roadmap for sustainable cooperation and integration within the European and Western Balkan contexts.
  • Policy Development and Harmonization: Identify areas for policy alignment, particularly in accreditation, validation processes, and inclusion of RPL in educational frameworks.

The workshop was opened by Ms Ejvis Gishti, General Director of the NAVETQ and the SEEVET Net Chair and Ms Tina Šarić, ERI SEE Director. The participants from the WB6 took this opportunity to present national policies and good practices on LLL and RPL. The conference concluded with the identification of policy recommendations and current and potential collaborative innitiatives.
